What kind of books this supports
Reflowable, text-heavy Kindle eBooks: novels, memoirs, short-story collections, and simple nonfiction. It works well for manuscripts that were written in Microsoft Word, Google Docs (exported as DOCX), Apple Pages (exported as .docx), or Scrivener (compiled to Word).
What it fixes automatically
- Applies the Heading 1 style to every chapter title.
- Inserts a page break before each chapter.
- Removes tab indents and replaces them with a proper first-line paragraph indent.
- Suppresses the indent on the first paragraph after a chapter title (standard book typography).
- Collapses repeated spaces and excessive blank paragraphs.
- Removes headers, footers, and manual page numbers — Kindle books don’t use them.
- Normalizes scene breaks to your chosen style.
- Builds a linked, clickable table of contents that jumps to each chapter.
- Optionally converts straight quotes to typographic smart quotes.
What it does not support
Embedded images, tables, footnotes, endnotes, text boxes, equations, and complex multi-column layouts are detected and flagged rather than silently removed. Cookbooks, poetry with unusual spacing, children’s picture books, comics, and academic works belong in fixed-layout tools like Kindle Create’s specialized templates or Kindle Kids’ Book Creator.

- No. It outputs a clean, Kindle-ready DOCX. Amazon’s pipeline (Kindle Create or the KDP upload flow) converts DOCX to the internal Kindle format. If you specifically need EPUB, export from Kindle Create after import.
- Do I still need Kindle Previewer?
- Yes. Kindle Previewer is the only accurate way to see how your book will look on real Kindle devices and apps. This tool cleans up the source manuscript; Kindle Previewer verifies the final rendering.
- Is my manuscript uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. The DOCX is read, parsed, and re-generated entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, saved to a database, or sent to analytics. Closing the tab discards it.
- What kinds of books does this formatter support?
- Text-heavy reflowable Kindle books: novels, memoirs, short-story collections, nonfiction with simple lists and links. It does not handle cookbooks, poetry with unusual spacing, comics, children’s picture books, or academic works with tables and footnotes — those need fixed-layout tools.
- Can this format a paperback?
- No. Paperback formatting needs trim size, gutters, mirror margins, and printed page numbers — none of which apply to a reflowable eBook. Use Kindle Create’s paperback flow or a print-focused tool for that.
- Will this guarantee KDP approval?
- No independent tool can guarantee KDP approval — Amazon has final say on content and format. This tool removes the most common formatting problems that cause conversion issues, but you should always check the result in Kindle Previewer before publishing. - How does chapter detection work?
- The tool first uses Heading 1 styles, then Heading 2 if no H1 structure exists, then patterns like ‘Chapter 1’, ‘Chapter One’, or named sections such as ‘Introduction’, ‘Prologue’, and ‘Epilogue’. You can review, rename, add, or remove detected chapters before generating the file.
- Can I keep my bold, italics, and hyperlinks?
